Still on course for an unprecedented quadruple, Laurent Blanc's men could add another line to their list of honours if they can pick up ten points from their remaining six games of the season, which would see them surpass the 89 points they registered in winning the 2013-14 crown.
Collecting a maximum haul at Guingamp may not be quite as straightforward as it looks, however. Though the hosts are in the lower reaches of the table, Jocelyn Gourvennec's side were the first to defeat PSG in Ligue 1 action in the same fixture last season, and though they were beaten 3-0 in this season's first meeting between the pair, only two goals in the last 13 minutes gave the champions a flattering scoreline.
EAG will have to contend with PSG's high-powered attacking players, though, with Angel di Maria likely to return after missing last weekend's 4-1 defeat of OGC Nice and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in rampant form after a hat-trick against the southerners to take his tally to a breathtaking 30 goals in his last 24 league appearances. The victory was all the more stunning given Blanc's admission the squad had barely had time to say 'Bonjour' to each other after returning from the international break before stepping out onto the Parc des Princes pitch.
"The merit goes to the players, honestly, we didn't prepare for this match at all," said the PSG boss, who also saw David Luiz grab a goal as his side bounced back from defeat to AS Monaco. "Certain players came back [from international duty] on Thursday morning. We didn't do much [to prepare]. That proves that we have a great squad of players and they always want to win."
Blanc: 'Motta is key'
PSG have also maintained their form just when their metronomic midfielder, Thiago Motta, has had a dip in his. The Italy international, who has underpinned PSG's emergence as a major European force since his arrival from Inter Milan in January 2013, has been below-par by his own sky-high standards in recent weeks.
"I still have confidence in him," said Blanc. "Thiago is of a certain age, but we've worked together for three years, and there are times when he's not in such good form. He always gets over them and finishes strongly. He always manages to come through them, and I hope that will again be the case. Thiago Motta is a guarantor of a certain style of play at PSG."
Gourvennec would love to have even an off-colour Motta at his disposal as he attempts to guide the team to the calmer waters of mid-table. The Breton club have eased themselves six points clear of the drop zone with a handy recent run of just one defeat in five league outings. That cushion would have been two points bigger, however, but for Montpellier Hérault SC twice pegging them back last weekend in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
"It was a great game, given what was at stake for two teams who are in the bottom half of the table," said Gourvennec, who saw Yannis Salibur and Jérémy Sorbon find the net. "We opened the scoring but the fact we didn't get the second goal when we had the chance and then they equalised from a long throw that was helped on by Mouss [Moustapha Diallo] is a bit annoying.
"In the second half, the early goal opened the game right up. We couldn't hold on. It was quite disjointed, but both teams tried to get forward. In the end the result was the right one. Montpellier are still behind us. We have 39 points and I think that's a decent tally and that in terms of how we are playing it is more than decent."
